Partnership in Action

The Town & Gown Partnership at Murray State University has 28 current partners representing both small and large businesses in our area as well as our city and county leadership. The Town & Gown partnership is actively involved in enhancing the quality of living and learning in our communities through various avenues. We take great pride in knowing that 75% of the partnership fee is invested directly into the community through sponsorship of community events and activities, while 25% is invested in special programming for our partners.

Investing in our Community and Our University

  • Supported the Town & Gown Partnership Breakfast, which served as the first stop of the 2025 Listening and Learning Tour, providing an opportunity for community leaders and university stakeholders to engage with Murray State leadership.
  • Partnered with the President's Office to support the Oakhurst Open House, welcoming community members to connect with university leadership and learn more about Murray State's vision and priorities.
  • Supported the Nonprofit Connections Event, which showcases local nonprofit organizations and strengthens connections between Murray State University and community partners.
  • Provided support for Breakfast on the Farm, highlighting the impact of agriculture and community engagement in the region.
  • Supported activities associated with the Presidential Inauguration, celebrating a significant milestone in the university's history.

Investing in Culture

  • Supported three annual community concerts featuring the Town & Gown Community Band and Chorale, providing free, family-friendly entertainment for the community in June, July, and December.
  • Sponsored a summer community concert as part of the Rotary Concert Series at Central Park, featuring Murray State students, faculty, community members, and local high school students, with attendance of approximately 300 people.
  • Partnered with the Murray Art Guild during Philanthropy Week, including transportation for students to attend the Guild's Open House and engage with the local arts community.

Investing in Our Partners

  • Provided partners with opportunities to engage directly with university leadership, faculty, staff, and students through exclusive events and programs.
  • Hosted the annual Town & Gown Partnership Breakfast and other engagement opportunities designed to foster collaboration between the university and the community.
  • Continued to build relationships that enhance the quality of life and learning throughout the region while supporting Murray State University's mission and strategic priorities.
